MERIT Library — UW School Of Education

MERIT is the library that serves the University of Wisconsin School of Education. At MERIT I develop workshops and course-related instruction, work at the information desk, provide reference training for student staff, and collect education titles related to health education, second language education, English as a second language, and science education. While at MERIT.

While at MERIT. I have taught sessions to faculty members of the kinesiology and occupational therapy departments on integrating Interactive Whiteboard technology into their instruction. In addition, I have trained staff members in the School of Education to develop webinars using Adobe Connect. I have also taught drop-in workshops on designing instruction with technology.

Department Of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, And Coaching

We offer an undergraduate major in Physical Education with a choice of two emphases, and a graduate master’s degree in Professional Development with a choice of two emphases.

The undergraduate Physical Education K-12 emphasis, as part of the College of Education & Professional Studies, is one of few licensure programs in the state of Wisconsin, which received accreditation from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. It prepares students for careers in the schools teaching elementary and secondary physical education, health education, adaptive physical education, and/or coaching.

The undergraduate Health, Human Performance and Recreation emphasis prepares students for careers in the private sector that include various leadership roles in fitness, wellness, recreation, outdoor education, and/or health promotion.
